IWSG: Blogging

It's the first Wednesday of the month, and that means it's Insecure Writers Support Group day. A time for writers to band together and share our insecurities, and our hopes and encouragement for each other.

IWSG was founded by the amazing Alex J. Cavanaugh, who is cohosting this month along with Elizabeth Seckman, Lisa Buie-Collard, Chrys Fey, and Michelle Wallace!. Big thanks to all this month's hosts!

I'm a sucky blogger. I'm sorry. I didn't make a conscious decision to stop blogging, it just sort of happened. Between writing, revisions, four kids, and other real world stuff to do (like laundry. Why is there always so much laundry?) I just sort of lost my blogging time.

And I miss it. I miss my bloggy friends. I still tell people who are just starting out writing, and asking for advice, to go out and blog and meet all the amazing people out there. The writing community is fantastic and I love you guys. I owe a LOT to you guys. My writing would still be at a standstill without all the things I learned through reading other people's blogs.

So this year I want to try and get back to blogging. Even if it's only a couple times a month, I want to really try and reconnect with all of you. (Some of you I get to see on FB still, but it's not the same!)

So wish me luck! :)

Oh! I guess we were supposed to introduce ourselves this month. Hi! I'm Rachel. I'm married with four little kids, I coach HS speech and theater, show Arabian horses, and write YA contemporary. :)

  1. Start with twice a month and then maybe once a week. I find that's my manageable level.

  2. Good luck with getting back into blogging. I'm surprised you manage to do anything with four little kids! I only have one and he takes up the majority of my day. :) Happy new year!

  3. I can totally relate to this - I barely blogged at all for the past six months and I really missed the community. I am hoping to get back to blogging regularly again too. Happy New Year and good luck!

  4. I'm in the same boat! Toward the end of the year, I really stopped blogging. Life got too busy. I really want to make sure that I blog more and comment more! We can do it! :)

  5. Blogging takes up uber-time! I never could've did all this when I had my 5 rug rats running around. You're amazing! Once a month or sporadic posts seem fine to me. Happy New and much success in 2015!!!

  6. I feel the same way, Rachel. Over the course of 2014, I went from weekly posts to bi-monthly, to once a month. I get the whole too busy thing. I'm with you. But one of my 2015 goals is to blog more. Maybe I'll go back to every other week. That seemed to work well. Hope 2015 is successful and happy for you!

  7. Yay! Great to have you back. I know what you mean about getting caught up in real life and all the other complications. We're meant to be busy, right? ;) Here. Have some cheese. =)

  8. Yes, keeping up with blogging feels like a full-time job! My post today almost mirrors yours, but not just about blogging but Social Media in general. 2015 will be an interesting year.
    Happy New Year!

  9. Real life always seems to get in the way of blogging, doesn't it? Hopefully you can get back into a groove that works for you.

  11. It's okay that you took a break from blogging; we all need a break sometimes. I've been blogging for almost five years and have thought about quitting, but like you, I would miss the blogging community. I like writing to and for other people in the blogosphere; it makes me feel less disconnected.

  12. Awww it's okay to take a break when you need too but also great that you have decided to come back. I sucked at blogging last year too and am trying to post every day for a while to make up for it :) happy 2015 and Arabian horses!!! They are so beautiful :)

  13. I'm right there with you, Rachel. I think I wrote four blog posts in 2014 (and three were Teaser Tuesday). We can bolster each other up this year!

  14. Hi Rachel!
Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday.
4 kids? You have your hands full. No wonder your blogging has suffered. It's understandable. And there's also the writing to squeeze in...
Happy New Year and everything of the best for 2015!

  15. Good luck! I've been behind on blogging lately, too. Every time I try to catch up, I end up falling back behind just as quickly. (Oops.) Hopefully you can get back into the swing of blogging better than me!

  16. Yay for blogging. I've slowed down a lot over the past year too - but I guess it's good that your writing is taking over.

  18. Life gets pretty crazy. I've been trying to be consistent, but it's hard. Work, writing, family, and everything else (how did there get to be so much everything else??) I'm glad you're back, Rachel!
