Who Has the Time?

This morning I was planning to write about writing and having four kids and how I am so bad at time management! I was going to ask for suggestions. As in, "If you have ANY ideas to make it easier to find time to write please help me!!"

But before I got that far I read this. Thanks Kathleen. :)

I need to make myself take the time to write. I need to remember that after getting some stuff done, or, like Kathleen says, after setting myself up to get more done, it is okay to sit down in one spot and do some writing.

Now I just need to decide what to work on. . .My YA zombie novel is still being revised, but I started a new project, and I like it. :) It's a MG fairy tale retelling and I'm having a lot of fun with it. However, my husband throws a fit if I work on anything other than the zombie book. (He loves zombies.)\

I will keep on working and some day (hopefully) they will both be done.

  1. I never used to have time, but I changed jobs and now I have at least 2 clear days every week when the kids are at school. Having the kids grow up has helped a lot, so maybe it's just a waiting game for you.

My problem is a write so much, that I forget about the housework. I need help to fit that in!

    1. That's a very good point, it's still a long way off though. However, next year my son starts kindergarten and then I'll be down to two at home. :)
Oh, and housework is over-rated anyway!

  2. My writing time is going to be nonexistent once baby #3 comes along. Right now, I'm so lucky that the boys take a nap at the same time. That was my built in writing time. All I can say is to take it one day at a time. One thing that helps me is that I'm always thinking of ways to make my story better or about the next scene that I need to write so that I'm never staring at the computer screen, unsure what to do next.

    1. That's a good idea. There have definitely been times I've stared at screen!
Good luck with baby #3. Maybe he'll sleep at that time, too. One can hope. :)

Just thought I'd stop by and say thanks for the linkage!
    I'll take a look around=)

  4. Do you ever read Writer Unboxed? There's a post about productivity today (although I suppose if you read it, it might steal some of your writing time). Sigh! That's the conundrum, isn't it.

    1. It certainly is, but I'll check it out anyway. Thanks!

  5. I just grab the time when I can, mostly late evenings because I'm a nightowl anyway. I read the blogs in the am. Thanks for sharing that you too have some trouble making it all fit.

  6. I admire anyone who manages to write while having kids! All I have is a dog and a job and somehow I still manage to complain about not having enough time?! It's good to have a little perspective!

  7. I think many of us struggle to find enough writing time - I certainly do though I'm getting slightly more organised which helps.

  8. Sometimes I just can't get out of my own way! I, too, am working on prioritizing and dividing my time. Keep plugging away--it's the best we can do!

  9. YOU CAN DO IT! Good luck with your Zombie book. I fell in love with Zombies when I started reading Christopher Moore books, years ago.

  10. Hmm...it will just be hard...I recently stopped teaching 2nd grade where I felt as though I was meeting the needs of 23 kids and I was exhausted...you just have to be ok with not doing everything!!!

  11. I was going to shout you can do it! but someone already beat me to it. Still, YOU CAN DO IT!

I love starting new projects, it's always exciting to take a new idea and run with it.
