My print copy of Real Girls Don't Rust came yesterday. Yay! I'm really looking forward to reading everyone's stories.
Right now I'm reading That Sadie Thing by Annalisa Crawford. It's really good! I'm having a hard time picking a favorite story. It's amazing how invested she can get you in a character in such a short amount of words.
I'm finishing up final revisions on DON'T FALL, my contemporary retelling of Rapunzel. I love the characters in that one, perhaps a bit too much. I needed to go back and make more go wrong for them! Lol.
Next week I head off to US Nationals, and I'm really looking forward to it. I get to show a super sweet, amazing four-year-old mare.
Maybelline has been a blast to show this year, and this will be my last show with her. After that we're selling her to another girl at our farm. I'll miss showing her, but I'm very happy she'll be staying at our barn and is going to a girl whom I know will take really good care of her.
I had bookmarks made for RUN FOR THE ROSES, and I'm really happy with how they turned out. I plan to bring them to the show next week. I'm hoping horse people will enjoy the story!
My oldest turns nine next week, too! Before I leave, I won't be missing her birthday. :) And then my son has his birthday the day after I get back! I love birthdays. I love buying presents for people. Especially kid people. I seriously love buying toys. :)
Well, that's it for me. What's up with you?
Shopping for kids is fun. I could do it all day (not my purse though.) YAY! I had my paperback copy sent to the U.S., so I won't see it for 5 more weeks. But I'm SO looking forward to it. My parents were totally excited to get it and dove in right away :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a lot to tell! US Nationals sounds exciting-- something I wish I knew more about. Have a great time and happy birthday to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteIs that Maybelline? She looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love shopping for my daughter too, but my hubs always tells me to go easy or I'll buy the whole store and bankrupt us lol
Don't Fall sounds awesome. I've been searching for a great Rapunzel retelling! Maybelline is gorgeous! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteKid birthdays are the best. The eyes when they open a present is just perfect. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHappy B'day to the kiddies when it comes. Glad the horse will have a good rider. Started reading That Sadie Thing recently myself and Annalisa did good. Congrats on your books and bookmarks.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your kids! And your horse is so pretty! I wish I could have a horse, but it wouldn't fit in my apartment. :)
ReplyDeleteIrish Green was my favorite in Annalisa's book. Loved it. Handing out book marks at a horse show was such a smart idea! I need to focus my brain and start thinking smart like that.
ReplyDeleteI just re-read Black Beauty, so I'm feeling all horse loving...so I'm ready for Run for the Roses!
Rachel, I don't even know where to begin! (And I thought I packed a lot in a post.) Good luck at the Nationals. So cool you finally got to hold the book.
ReplyDeleteYay with your writing! Rapunzel contemporary? Yikes. You've got my ear. And yeah, be mean to those characters. ;)
ReplyDeleteI miss buying toys for my kids. Have fun at Nationals. I would have loved to do that.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have a lot going on right now! I have That Sadie Thing on my Kindle, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far! And you're working on a Rapunzel retelling? Very cool! I've always enjoyed that fairytale...
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful a birthday! I hope it is wonderful-I too love buying for children! Their joy shines through~ Adults tend to not be so awe struck! Yes, have fun at
ReplyDeleteNationals..how exciting! YOU are so busy~ Good luck with everything :D
Maybelline is GORGEOUS!!! I'm so jealous. One day, I vow, I will have a horse again. Although the Foreign Service lifestyle isn't exactly conducive to horse ownership. :P Good luck at Nationals (and with everything else)!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad you're enjoying my book, Rachel :-D
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading Real Girls Don't Rust - a slightly different genre for me to explore! And how cool you won't be missing any birthdays.
I love buying toys for birthdays and Christmas too! It sounds like life is exciting and fun at your house these days. Have fun on those birthdays and with your horse show!
ReplyDeleteGood luck at Nationals! And HB to those kiddos. ....welcome back to blogging too. ;)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck at Nationals! I love birthdays, too, especially when toys are involved! And the holidays are coming - toys for everyone! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Nationals!
ReplyDeleteI'm taking riding lessons these days, and I must say that I find it a wonderful way to relax, now that I'm on a horse that likes me. :-D
