Elizabeth Seckman on Romance

Today Elizabeth Seckman is joining us as part of her Healing Summer Blog Tour. Check out her blog, she's always a blast! You can also find her on Facebook.

My PhotoHey Rachel! I figured since I lost your first email…and um, the second…and then your prompt as well…I figured fate was pushing me into a direction.

I mean I write romance and you write romance…congrats on signing that contract for the story btw...so I figured I would steal from my blog page and answer the question:

Why romance?

Is it just that I’m into writing kissy scenes and mush and stuff?

Not especially. I honestly find them very difficult to write.

That said, then WHY?

Because…honestly… I'm a true believer.

Love does conquer all. Find love and the world rotates a little smoother.

Now, I don't believe in that 'I can't live without you' crap. Honey, that's co-dependence hidden by head spins.

True love is sticking together through thick and thin, better or worse, good times and bad...it's holding on when the earth seems to be sliding out from under you.

True love empowers. It makes you stronger- able to endure, safe to grow, and allows you to live honestly.

I expect my true love to walk through the fires of hell for a glass of ice water just because I’m thirsty. But also know that I love him enough to never ask.

Love conquers all...love is all.

It’s one of the most important parts of finding happily ever after. And that's the sort of stories I write.

Elizabeth, I'm glad you lost my prompt, because I love this! A woman doesn't need a man in her life (and vice versa) but the right one sure makes things a hell of a lot better. Thanks for stopping by!

Elizabeth's book, Healing Summer, is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

For Sale Now!!!Maybe Love, Not Time, Heals All Wounds
Ditched at the altar…biopsied for cancer…Mollie Hinkle is having a bona fide bitch of a summer. When life sucks so hard it takes your breath away, what's a girl to do? Pack a bag, grab a few friends, and leave the past and the worry in the rear view mirror. What wounds can’t be healed by a drive across the Heartland, where quarter flips at cross roads determine the route and the future? All roads lead to Craig, the second son and bad boy of the haughty Coulter line. Has fate brought her to the minuscule Montana town to find happily ever after or will it just break her heart?
“Healing Summer” is the second book in the Coulter Men Series.

  2. I agree with you Elizabeth. Women want a man who'd be willing to go through the fire for them. Not some crazy guy running through fire just to burn himself. Sorry you lost the emails but you still did an awesome job here. Even Rachel loves it and when the post is great and the interviewer and interviewee are happy, that's all that matters.

  4. Romance is always fun every once in a while. I tend to read far too many YA's and mysteries...

  6. That was a beautiful post. Love features in most genres, even if it's just a tiny bit - love is pretty great :-)

  8. I agree! I like a bit of romance in all my stories. I'm a sucker for that early chemistry between future lovers and the excitement and wonder that and hope that goes along with it. Call me typical, but there's a reason why it's so popular. ;)

    1. I agree. Though I guess technically mine fall under women's lit because I fail to make the whole story about just the love interest, but to me a slow burn is way sexier than full tilt on page 5.

  10. I love a great romance novel. I always thought I'd end up writing them and not YA, but I was surprised. Who knows maybe someday? Off to add Elizabeth's book to my TBR list.

    1. Thanks Jessica. And I've been toying with a YA in my head...maybe I'll cross genre one day too.

  11. Exactly! Romance without the "I can't live without you" stuff! Great post.

And what is this news that I missed, Rachel? You signed a contract???

    1. Well, "Finding Claire" was pretty much a romance in my book too. Guy meets a girl then risks his life to save her? Sexy stuff ;)

  13. I always wonder where you get the people for the steamy covers. My body never seems to look that good in pictures.
