IWSG: Not Enough Time!

It's the first Wednesday of the month?! How the crap did that happen? This summer is going far too quickly!

If you aren't familiar with the Insecure Writers Support Group, and you're a writer, then you should go check it out right now! It's pretty much the best thing ever. A time for writers to tell other writers about their insecurities, (and we all have them in spades!) and get loving feedback from people who get us.

The IWSG was created by the amazing Alex J. Cavanaugh, writing ninja and friend to writers everywhere. His awesome co-hosts for today are Sarah Foster, Joylene Nowell Butler, Lily Eva, and Rhonda Albom!

So, what's bugging me lately? Oh geez, what isn't? There's no time to finish anything. I'm falling behind in all my goals. And I'll never be a successful writer. :-P

It's been a very busy summer. Our local theater group, (which I'm on the board for) is putting on Legally Blonde the Musical. It's been very fun, but a lot of work! I'm doing costumes for the show, and performing a couple small parts.

That's me driving the golf cart as Elle's drunken mother.

I also leave for Canadian Nationals the day after the show ends. I can't bring my computer, because my husband will use it to watch the classes I'm in on the live feed, but I do plan to bring a notebook and will hopefully get some writing done.

I'm also bringing a couple books I've been wanting to read, so that's fun too. :)

Here's hoping that once all this is done I can get back on track with my writing and eventually finish the YA ms I'm working on, (which I love!)

How about you guys? How is summer treating you? Are you finding time to write?

  1. I've gotten a little writing done, but not nearly as much as I need to. I can't wait for school to start! LOL (I'm terrible. I know.)

Good luck with the play and the competition. And the writing! :)

IWSG #184 until Alex culls the list again.

  2. I am sorry to say I have had no time to write, at all. But I have been able to get some long overdue reading done. There are a lot of summer b-days to celebrate at my house, so that has been tying up a lot of my time. It's all been fun stuff though.

I'm loving your red hot heels in that picture. Best of luck to you at Nationals!! Hopefully you can catch up on everything when you get back. *Hugs*

  6. LOL. I've got a condition this summer. Call it moving. Call it kids. Call it something else. I've done almost no writing, but here's hoping this fall will be totally different. Have a blast with your notebook!

  9. This not enough time issue is a real problem! I'm always looking at ways to get more writing time, and I don't have a full time job or children at home any longer. But I do have a husband LOL.

  10. Summer has been amazing. Like, unbelievable. Which means things are scary but good, and "Where did the time go?"

Good luck at Nationals (you'll rock!), and sometimes, it's okay to not get a ton of work done. Just put yourself in each of your tasks fully and it'll be enough.

  11. I often feel like there's no time to finish anything, either, no matter what I do to be more productive. Looks like you have some really cool stuff stealing your time lately, though! Have fun with it all, and good luck squeezing in some writing time, too! :)

  12. The play looks like a lot of fun! I hear you on the time thing. No writing for me this evening, as once I got home from work it was supper, and then a bit of family time and then getting the kidlet to bed and now I'm doing a bit of blog reading and heading to bed myself. Whew! =) One of these days we'll be retired, right...?

  13. Break a leg on the play! Musicals are fun and are the one of the only places where people can break out in song and not look weird, because everyone else is doing it. :)

  14. Oh wow! Sounds like you're going to have a fantastic summer! I'm in the same boat as you with the whole no time to write thing - not because I have a busy summer planned, I just don't know where the time goes! I think the trick is not to worry when you do fall behind your goals, or when you don't get as much writing done as you planned - you'll catch up eventually :). For now, just enjoy your summer! Good luck in nationals!

  15. Wow, you ARE busy. But it sounds like you're enjoying every moment, so you just have to accept that writing isn't the priority right now. Good luck in the nationals :-)

  16. Don't feel like you'll never be successful as a writer. The key is to keep doing it, and keep learning.

  17. You are so incredibly busy, I don't know how you keep up with it. But you do! And you're amazing at it! And you're an uber talented writer! I'm so jealous of you! So don't doubt yourself. You ROCK!

  18. There don't ever seem to be enough hours in the day to do all we'd like, but you're making great use of your time and having fun too so I'd say you're doing a lot right.

  19. My summer's been very low as far as writing is concerned, but I'm now getting back on track and starting a challenging new project. Scary. Hoping your work goes well.
